Hilde Lauer

Hilde Lauer , after marriage to Hilde Tătaru , (born March 24, 1943 in Orțișoara ) is a former Romanian canoeist .

Hilde Lauer took part in the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 1964. First, the prelims were held in a two-person kayak over 500 meters. In the first run, the Danish boat won ahead of the boat from the United States. In the second heat, the Germans Roswitha Esser and Annemarie Zimmermann won ahead of the Romanian boat with Hilde Lauer and Cornelia Sideri . The first three boats from each heat qualified directly for the final. Three hours after the heats in the two-person kayak, the heats in the single kayak took place over 500 meters. Hilde Lauer won the first run ahead of the German Elke Felten , in the second run Lyudmila Chwedossjuk from the Soviet Union won ahead of Marcia Jones from the United States. Here, too, the first three boats of each heat directly reached the final. The day after the heats, the Hope Runs were held. Another day later the finals took place. First the final started in a single kayak, Lyudmila Chwedossjuk won with two and a half seconds ahead of Hilde Lauer, Marcia Jones won bronze ahead of Elke Felten. Eighty minutes later the two-person kayaks went out on the track. Esser and Zimmermann won the gold medal with a two second lead over the US two, one second behind Lauer and Sideri received bronze.

The 1.60 m tall Hilde Lauer won ten Romanian championship titles between 1961 and 1969. First she started for the Clubul Sportiv Scolar from Timișoara and then moved to the capital to Steaua Bucharest . In 1970 she emigrated to the Federal Republic of Germany.
