Hildegard Kornhardt

Hildegard Kornhardt (born March 9, 1910 in Blankenburg (Harz) , † May 1, 1959 in Munich ) was a German classical philologist .

She studied classical philology at the University of Göttingen , especially with Kurt Latte and Hermann Fränkel , who were dismissed in 1936 and 1935 because of their Jewish origins, and with Max Pohlenz . In 1936 Kornhardt became Exemplum with his work . A historical study on the Dr. phil. PhD . Then she got a job on February 3, 1936 at the Thesaurus Linguae Latinae in Munich , initially limited to two years. In August 1945 she was in a serious car accident. On April 1, 1949, she was employed again at the Thesaurus. Together with Kurt Latte, she suggested the first collection of articles by her teacher Hermann Fränkel, which appeared in 1955 under the title Ways and Forms of Early Greek Thinking .

Hildegard Kornhardt was a niece of Oswald Spengler , in whose apartment she lived with her mother from the summer of 1925. After the death of her uncle (1936) Kornhardt managed his estate and published Spengler's speeches and essays (1937) and his thoughts (1941). After the end of the war, she was a lecturer for Greek and Latin language courses at the University of Munich .
