Hildesheim 07 was a sports club from Hildesheim . The first soccer team played for four years in the Lower Saxony Gauliga and South Hanover-Braunschweig .

history

In the late summer of 1907, some young people founded the club FC Discordia Hildesheim . With this name, the founders wanted to express their striving for unity. However, when they were informed by some students of the Michelsenschule that Discordia is the Latin word for discord , FC Discordia became FC Preußen Hildesheim . This merged in 1919 with the SV Jungborn Hildesheim to form Hildesheimer SV 07 .

Under this name, the 07ers was the first Hildesheim club to be promoted to the southern district league, the top division at the time. At the end of the season, the club merged with VfB Hildesheim to form SpVgg Hildesheim 07 . VfB was founded in 1904 as FV Britannia Hildesheim and was the oldest football club in the city at that time. In 1907, Britannia became SV Hohenzollern Hildesheim and, after the First World War, VfB.

In terms of sport, the 07er were able to celebrate the runner-up behind Eintracht Braunschweig in 1924 . In the course of the season, the Hildesheimers won a 4-3 victory in Braunschweig. This high-altitude sporting flight came to an end quickly. Only two years later, the 07ers secured 7th place in the table with a 2-1 win over Germania Wolfenbüttel , which saved the kickers the impending promotion / relegation round. In the 1927 season, however, the Domstadt team had to go to the bottom of the table in the qualifying round, finished them as leaders and were able to hold the first division; just like in 1928, when Hildesheim had lost the replay of the decider for 7th place against Borussia Hannover .

In 1937 the SpVgg had to merge with the VfR 07 Hildesheim to form the Hildesheimer SV 07 . He found himself two years later as a successor in the Lower Saxony Gauliga after three military sports clubs had to withdraw. The 07ers held out in the Gauliga for two years before they went back to the second division.

Another forced merger with the Hildesheim Water Friends and the Hildesheim Gymnastics Club formed the Hildesheim 07 gymnastics, play and swimming association in 1942 . After a 14-0 victory over FC Herzberg, he was promoted to the Gauliga Südhannover-Braunschweig. From October 21, 1943, the 07er formed a war game community together with RSV Hildesheim . This dissolved at the end of the Second World War and flowed into the newly founded VfV Hildesheim .
