Hilmar Lemke

Hilmar Lemke (* March 18, 1940 - March 8, 2020 ) was a German biochemist and professor of immunobiology at Kiel University .

In his research, Lemke u. a. Investigations on the “mechanism of the suppression of the IgE immune response in mice induced by monoclonal IgG antibodies of maternal origin”. As an immunologist, Lemke u. a. show how the immune system of the newborn is already highly structured and receives impulses from the mother. As a non-genetic consequence, one speaks here of “imprinting”.
