Friedrich Ernst Wilhelm von Buddenbrock (born August 30, 1781 in Strehlen , † January 18, 1867 in Berlin ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

origin

His parents were Friedrich Wilhelm von Buddenbrock (1733–1804) and his wife Friederike Christiane Helene, born von Arzat and Groß-Schottgau (1750–1815) from the Wammen family. She was a daughter of Ernst Friedrich von Arzat and Groß-Schottgau, heir to Geppersdorf and Wammer and his wife Christine Friderike Sophie von Burgsdorf from the Kummelswitz family. The father was a Prussian colonel a. D. , most recently in the cuirassier regiment "von Schlitz" , knight of the order Pour le Mérite and Lord of Ottlau.

Military career

Budde Brock came on January 4, 1794 Corporal Corporal in the Infantry Regiment "Pfuel" and advanced to April 1800 to second lieutenant . During the Fourth Coalition War he fought in the Battle of Auerstedt and was made inactive in 1807. In 1809 he joined the Duke of Braunschweig's black crowd , but soon left them again. On August 8, 1812, he was aggregated as a second lieutenant in the Silesian Rifle Battalion and on February 8, 1813, he was transferred to the 1st East Prussian Infantry Regiment as a prime lieutenant . During the Wars of Liberation Buddenbrock fought in the battles near Großgörschen , Bautzen , an der Katzbach and Leipzig . At the crossing near Wartenburg he was wounded and awarded the Iron Cross 2nd class , he was also wounded near Laon . He was also in the battles at Colditz, Hochkirch, Reichenbach, Saint-Dizier , La Chaussee, Chalons, Mery and Chateau-Thierry . At Dieux Maison he was awarded the Order of St. Vladimir IV Class. At that time he was on December 8, 1813 staff captain and on January 9, 1814 captain and company commander .

After the war, Buddenbrock advanced to major in early April 1816 and was awarded the service cross in 1825 . He was promoted to lieutenant colonel on March 30, 1832 and on April 18, 1834 charged with leading the 5th Infantry Regiment . On September 2, 1834, he was appointed regimental commander and on March 30, he was promoted to colonel. In this position Buddenbrock received the Order of St. Anna II Class. On March 25, 1841, he was transferred to the Königsberg Fortress as a commander and on April 8, 1841, he was added to the 5th Infantry Regiment. On April 7, 1842 he was promoted to major general and on the occasion of his 50th anniversary in service he was awarded the Order of the Red Eagle, 2nd class with oak leaves. On May 5, 1848 he got his departure with the character of lieutenant general and legal pension. On January 27, 1864, he was made Honorary Senior of the Iron Cross, Second Class, before he died in Berlin on January 18, 1867 and was buried in the garrison cemetery on January 21, 1867 .

Buddenbrock married on August 15, 1815 in Paris Christiane Emilie (Amilie) von Leslie (1792-1828), daughter of the surgeon General David Christian von Leslie (1745-1806) and his wife Maria Sophia Lutz. The couple had several children:

After the death of his first wife, on May 4, 1830, he married Charlotte de Rege (1790–1856), who was buried after her death on August 9, 1856 in the garrison cemetery in Berlin.
