History and infrastructure
Incorporation
The district was incorporated into the city of Hallein with imperial approval on September 17, 1895, as was the then municipality Taxach.
Demarcation
The area east of the Salzach and west of the Salzburg-Tiroler-Bahn, which includes the Hallein-Burgfried cemetery, the Hallein-Burgfried elementary school and Salzachtal Strasse, is not officially part of the Burgfried district. The city of Hallein reports this area to Statistics Austria under the Hallein district and not under the Burgfried district.
Road connection
The Salzachtalbundesstraße (B 159) leads from Anif to Bischofshofen and thus crosses the castle keep. The keep underpass opens up the housing estate on Römerstrasse to the east of the railway tracks. The Neumayr Bridge connects the castle keep with Gamp . On the junction Hallein can Tauern motorway A 10 can be achieved.
Hallein Burgfried stop
The Salzburg-Tiroler-Bahn (former Giselabahn) was built here from 1873–75 . A stop was only built in 2005 as part of the expansion of the Salzburg S-Bahn . The Hallein Burgfried stop (named after the village) was built to consolidate the network of stops for the rapid transit railway in Tennengau. The slightly faster REX sets don't stop here.
State Clinic Hallein
The Hallein State Clinic (formerly Hallein Hospital) is located near the Hallein junction on the Tauern A 10 motorway.
Rehabilitation center Hallein
The Hallein Rehabilitation Center is located right next to the Hallein State Clinic and is a metabolic competence center with a focus on insulin pump therapy. The company was founded in 2017 by the SeneCura Group from Dr. Dr. Wagner Group and is managed under the OptimaMed brand.
