Sky broom
Sky broom is the name for a regional wind or - in the nautical language of northern latitudes in general - for the northwest wind . It comes with particularly clear vision after "sweeping" the clouds from the sky.
In Mallorca , this is a dry, foehn-like wind that sets in suddenly when a retreating low over the western Mediterranean gives way to a high on the Iberian peninsula. It usually blows from the bay of Valencia towards the northwest coast of Mallorca, releases precipitation there, warms up over the Bahia da Palma and flows on from there. In doing so, it ensures rapid temperature changes.
