Hinduguzar

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hinduguzar ( Persian هندوگذر, 'Hindu Quarter / Neighborhood Quarter') or Hindu Gozar is one of the oldest quarters in the Afghan capital Kabul . Kabul residents with Hindu beliefs lived here. Even today, some Hindus and Sikhs live in the old town of Kabul, who were not financially able to live in the posh districts of the city e.g. B. Moving to the Parwan district map or leaving the country entirely because of increased discrimination after the 1990s.

The Hindu dynasty of the Hindu Shahi built the citadel of Bala Hissar in the south of the old town and an approx. 6 km long wall on the mountain of Sher Darwaza to protect the city. The figure of Ganesha and the oldest Hindu temples such as Darga , Assamai , the temple of Shor Bazaar , Bhairo Mandir, Mangalwar Mandir, Guru Hari Rai Gurudwara and Darwaza Lahuri were in the old town of Kabul : Baba Jothi Sorup Mandir , Shor Bazar Mandir , Mandir in Baghban Kucha ( Persian باغبانکوچه) with the famous fountain and many other meditation centers where music, dancing and singing took place and are still found.

The famous district of Charabat , which had a bad reputation from the 11th century to the Mughal dynasty , was rehabilitated thanks to the Indian Dari poets such as Amir Chosrau and Abdul Qader Bedil as well as other poets of the Mughal empire . Bedel and Chosrau became Pir of Charabat. They referred to Sufis like Rumi , who made music, dance and song as divine means to purify and perfect people.

Some of the ancient and historically significant cultural sites in this old town have been affected by the rule of the Taliban . Much of the country's cultural heritage has been irreversibly destroyed. Ghulam Mohammad Farhad last destroyed Kabul's old town in the 1940s in order to build houses on both sides of the street. The road was as a kind of imitation of the Kudamm as Jada e Maiwand referred. The historic bazaars of Kabul such as the Tschar Satta (four-roof bazaar) were also destroyed.
