Hindustan is the valley region of the Ganges and some of its tributaries (such as the Ghaghara or the Yamuna , which flows into the Chambal , Ghagara and Chambal in turn into the Ganges). This valley region extends at the southern foot of the Himalayas and separates it from the rest of the Indian mountainous region. In the Ganges delta on the Bay of Bengal , the valley widens into a plain.
