The work of Stavoer is particularly recognizable by the spiral-shaped hair that is gathered into tufts. The baptismal font in the Petrikirche in Braunschweig with the year 1525 comes from Paul Jonas Meier von Stavoer. The apostles on a winged altar of the Katharinenkirche and the crucifixion group as well as Mary at the crucifixion group and St. Dionysius of Paris in the town church of Rethen are among the works of Stavoer. In North Rhine-Westphalia in the evang.-luth. Collegiate Church of St. Dionysius von Enger there is a carved altar (1525) by him.

Later works by sculptors from Braunschweig were under his and Hans Witten's influence.
