Joško Vlasich

Joško Vlasich (born November 9, 1950 ) is an Austrian teacher and politician ( Greens ). Vlasich was state spokesman for the Green Burgenland and from 2000 to 2010 a member of the Burgenland state parliament .

education and profession

Joško Vlasich attended the bilingual (German / Burgenland-Croatian ) elementary school as well as a grammar school and, after graduating from high school, studied German and Slavic studies at the University of Vienna . After completing his studies, Vlasich took up the profession of AHS teacher and has been teaching German and Russian at the Bundesgymnasium, Bundesrealgymnasium and Bundesoberstufengymnasium Oberpullendorf since 1978.

Vlasich is heavily involved in culture and radio and was a permanent freelancer for the Croatian editorial team at ORF Burgenland until 1994 . Vlasich is co-founder of the multilingual radio "MORA" and has been working for the cultural association in Großwarasdorf (KUGA) since 1993 , where he was also the managing director between 1997 and September 2000. From 1995 he also participated in the expansion of the bilingual, autonomous cultural initiative into an intercultural action, education and culture center in Central Burgenland.

politics

Vlasich has been active with the Burgenland Greens since September 2000 and has been a councilor in Großwarasdorf since October 2002. On December 3, 2006, Vlasich was elected regional spokesman for the Greens in Burgenland, and after Grete Krojer had withdrawn as state spokesperson, he prevailed against Hans Leitner from Markt Allhau with 62.7 percent. Vlasich, who was also a member of the state parliament from December 28, 2000, most recently acted as area spokesman for the topics of education, youth, consumers, culture, agriculture, economy and ethnic groups due to the small number of green members. In the run-up to the regional elections in Burgenland 2010 , Vlasich withdrew to an ineligible list and left the state parliament on June 24, 2010.

In the Ö1 radio show Menschenbilder on February 28, 2016, he describes how he helped Burgenland with (Croatian) bilingual place-name signs in two actions.

Private

Vlasich is married and has three children. Since 1970 he has been a member of the Burgenland-Croatian rock group Bruji .

Movie

He had a short speaking role in the movie Mother's Day - Die harder Komödie (1993) as a gas station attendant. He also appeared in two episodes in 1996 in the television series Kaisermühlen Blues .
