Behind the curtains

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Behind the coulisse is a quadrille of the brothers Johann and Josef Strauss . It was performed for the first time on February 28, 1859 in the Sofienbad Hall in Vienna.

Remarks

The joint work of the two Strauss brothers was written for the carnival of 1859 and premiered on February 28, 1859 on the occasion of a Strauss concert with the bands of both brothers. In the work, the two composers have used music from the operetta The engagement by the lantern (alternatively also wedding by lantern light) by Jacques Offenbach . In doing so, they orientated themselves on the version of the work prepared for Vienna, which had been prepared by Carl Binder based on the piano reduction of the operetta.

The playing time on the CD listed under individual records is 6 minutes and 12 seconds. This time can vary somewhat depending on the conductor's musical conception.
