Hiroshi Ikeda (Director)
Hiroshi Ikeda ( jap. 池田宏 , Ikeda Hiroshi * 1934 in Tokyo ) is a Japanese anime - director , who at Animation Toei worked. He was also the department head of the Japanese video game company Nintendo .
Life
Hiroshi Ikeda was employed by Toei at the same time as the well-known Japanese animator Yōichi Kotabe . Together they worked on a number of projects such as the animated film Soratobu Yūreisen (1969), which Ikeda was director and for which Kotabe was involved as animation director.
Ikeda later worked for Nintendo. He was the first head of the development department Nintendo Entertainment Analysis & Development (then R & D4), founded around 1984 , whose chief producer, Shigeru Miyamoto , was the developer of games like Donkey Kong . Ikeda put together a small team for Miyamoto, with whom he developed the first games, including successful titles such as Super Mario Bros. and The Legend of Zelda . Ikeda also hired his former colleague Kotabe, who was henceforth an illustrator at R & D4. Miyamoto later took over the management of the department and Ikeda, who worked behind the scenes at Nintendo, left the company.
Ikeda was also president of the Mario Co. joint venture company co-founded by Nintendo in 1991 and of the Manegi studio, founded in 1998, a company founded by Nintendo and Hudson Soft .
