Hudson Soft Company, Limited was a Japanese video game manufacturer , founded on May 18, 1973. In March 2012, the company was acquired by Konami.

history

Although Hudson had begun manufacturing and marketing some PC products as early as 1975 , the company didn't achieve any notable success until 1984 when it began developing video games for the Famicom ( NES ). Hudson's first Famicom title, Lode Runner , sold 1.2 million units. Hudson also entered into a joint venture with NEC to produce the Turbografx-16 ( North America ) and PC Engine (Japan) family consoles . After a long history of developing games for Nintendo's consoles, Hudson joined forces with NCL to form the Manegi Corporation joint venture in May 1998. As of April 2005, Konami owns 53.99% of Hudson Soft's shares. On January 20, 2011 it was announced that Konami plans to take over the entire studio on April 1, 2011. On March 1, the studio was merged with Konami Digital Entertainment and thus formally dissolved.

Games

Hudson's most famous video game series is the Bomberman series, from which games have appeared on all major platforms. The popular Mario Party series distributed by Nintendo was also developed by Hudson Soft.
