Hirsch & Cie was a Belgian clothing company that existed from 1869 to 1962. In addition to the headquarters in Brussels, it had branches in Amsterdam , Cologne , Dresden and Hamburg and became known for the fashion of the Belle Époque .

The founder Léo Hirsch (1842–1906) was a Jewish emigrant from Altena in Prussia . In 1869 he opened a specialty fashion store with tailoring on Rue Neuve in Brussels and had success imitating exclusive Parisian models. In addition, he had family connections to the Gerson department store in Berlin through his wife Johanna and his children .

In the 1880s and 1890s his employees, including Albert Sally Berg , opened their own Hirsch branches in other European cities. At the height of the two world wars, Hirsch & Cie had around 500 employees. The company operated innovative marketing with fashion shows for different target groups and intensive press work.
