action

The Prince of Razzamatazz leads an easy bachelor's life in the United States until he receives a telegram from the king ordering him to go to the neighboring country of Thermosa, where the Princess of Thermosa is to choose her future husband between him and the Prince of Roquefort. The prince and his lover do not like that at all. A pushy book salesman (played by Harold Lloyd) appears at the prince's house. To everyone's surprise, he looks very much like the prince (the prince is portrayed by Gaylord Lloyd, Harold Lloyd's brother). The prince offers the young American the opportunity to go to Thermosa as a “prince” for him and marry a real princess there. Shortly after the fake prince has left, the real prince realizes that there will probably be no more money flowing out of Razzamatazz, that a small apartment has to be taken and that the mistress should prepare for future housewife work. Thereupon he is kicked out by the lover.

In Thermosa, the princess doesn't like that the Prince of Roquefort is constantly drunk. The impoverished people gradually rebelled against the unstable and wasteful hustle and bustle at court. While the Princess of Thermosa is incognito in town, the young American who has just arrived helps her - without the two of them knowing each other. When the false prince sees the hustle and bustle at court, he would like to go straight back. He also has great difficulties with protocol usage. Then the fake prince sees the supposed street girl as a princess again and both young people are very pleased. The princess selects the supposed Prince of Razzamatazz as her future husband.

In the meantime the real prince, who had received the passport from his lover, has arrived in Thermosa. He can just escape to the palace before the revolutionary movement. There he reveals himself to be the real prince and the young American is thrown out of the palace. The American accidentally ignites the insurgents' cannon. The insurgents take the palace. The American is proclaimed President of the Thermosa Republic. And the princess? She would also like to marry a president.
