Historic Houses Trust of New South Wales

The Historic Houses Trust of New South Wales (HHT) is an Australian monument preservation organization established on a legal basis by the New South Wales government . It is a division of the Department of the Arts, Sport and Recreation .

Its task includes the protection and recording of historical ensembles that not only look after buildings, but also gardens, park landscapes and cultural events at these locations. More than two million visitors come to the historic sites that the HHT looks after each year. The administrative headquarters are located in the historic Sydney Mint building on Macquarie Street in Sydney .

Assignments and ensembles

The Trust is a state trustee who became active on the basis of the 1980 Historic Houses Trust Act . In 1980, he worked for the Elizabeth Bay House and Vaucluse House ; since then his tasks have expanded. In 2010 the Trust was responsible for 13 ensembles and held more than 48,000 artifacts from these ensembles in New South Wales.
