The historic Wurstkuchl is a sausage roaster located in Regensburg next to the Stone Bridge , which is considered to be the world's oldest operation of this type.

During the construction of the Stone Bridge from around 1135 to 1146, the building served as a construction office. When the office moved out after the completion of the bridge, the small building became the “food stall on the crane”. For more than 850 years, the family-owned Historische Wurstkuchl has been supplying guests every day of the year with their products that go far beyond the range of historical sausages. So z. B. in the operation of the historic Wurstkuchl in Thundorfer Straße, the sausages of the in-house butcher's shop also produce mustard and sauerkraut. The Wurstkuchl could therefore also be seen as one of the first fast-food stands that still exist today . Sausages were only sold here since the middle of the 19th century. Before that, boiled meat was offered in this cookshop .

One of the "classics" of the menu are bratwursts on cabbage and with homemade sweet mustard , together with black croissants from the traditional Regensburg bakery Schwarzer .

Due to its location near the Danube, the Wurstkuchl has been exposed to flooding since its completion, which is indicated by several high water marks. Since 2010, the Wurstkuchl can be protected from flooding by mobile elements.
