The historic railway depot Gera is located north of the Gera main station on the Eselsbrücke and includes the western part of the former railway depot (Bw) Gera. In addition to a locomotive shed with 10 tracks and a turntable, the property also includes the striking water tower and the former Reichsbahn cultural center.

history

The western part of the former Gera depot was acquired by Deutsche Bahn AG in 2011 with the aim of operating the system as a whole as a living railway museum, putting it back into operation to supply steam locomotives and here some of the vehicles that are typical for railway operations in Gera as a museum for posterity to obtain.

Almost all buildings are now being used again and the site is home to several clubs.
