The historic twin house ( English Two Historic Dwellings ), also known as Residences in Bergstrasse (English Berg Street Residences ), is a twin house in the Namibian coastal town of Lüderitz . It has been a National Monument of Namibia since December 20, 1979 .
The semi-detached house is one of the best-preserved colonial buildings from the times of German South West Africa in Namibia. Both parts of the house show similar architectural features, including the gables and enclosed verandas. The foundation is made of natural stone, the walls are made of cement stones. The floors and windows are made of wood.
Both halves were built in 1909 by Hermann Metje for Edmund Troost . Heinrich Ziegler was the architect .
