The National Heritage Council of Namibia ( English National Heritage Council of Namibia , NHC ) is the Council for the Protection of the Namibian heritage with the task of Erhaltes for future generations. He also performs the tasks of a monument protection authority.

History and tasks

With legislation of 2004 the “National Monument Council” was transformed into the “Council for National Heritage” and the establishment of a “Register for National Heritage” was decided.

The council came from the "Historical Monuments Commission" set up between 1948 and 1968, the "South African Council for National Monuments" (National Monuments Council of South Africa; 1969–1990) and the "Namibian Council for National Monuments" (National Monuments Council of Namibia ; 1990-2004). Today he is part of the “Namibian National Heritage Management Group” (Heritage Management Groups).

The NHC is based in Windhoek and has offices at Heldenacker and Twyfelfontein .
