List of state-owned companies in Namibia
This is a list of state and semi-state companies and entities in Namibia .
Few state-owned companies in Namibia have been privatized since independence in 1990. A majority of the companies operate with large losses, which is why privatization or the closure of these is a recurring issue.
administration
State -owned enterprises in Namibia are those enterprises and institutions that are 100 percent owned by the Namibian state ( English state-owned enterprises ), semi-state enterprises ( parastatals ) are defined as those that are at least 51 percent, but not 100 percent are owned by the state.
All necessary legislation has been in force since the beginning of 2020. The companies are subject to the supervision of a Namibian specialist ministry or, if the business enterprise is concerned, the ministry for state enterprises . Until then, these were monitored by the independent State-Owned Enterprises Governance Council . They are subject to the financial supervision of the Namibian general auditor . A hybrid system applies in the administration.
Companies
Since the establishment of the Ministry of State Enterprises, state enterprises have been divided into three categories.
