Champion Ch-2 from 1949 to 1950

The Hermann Holbein vehicle from Mr. Lingen was a German automobile manufacturer . The brand name was Champion .

Company history

The racing driver Hermann Holbein began after the end of World War II with the development of a mini-car . The gear factory Friedrichshafen AG also worked under the direction of Chief Engineer Albert Maier in the development of a mini-car called ZF Champion . Since ZF did not want to develop the vehicle for series production and then produce it, Holbein took over development from ZF according to the contract dated January 12, 1949. Series production began in November 1949. Holbein's company was too small to last. So he looked for a partner and found him in Benteler International AG from Bielefeld . Together they founded Champion-Automobilbau GmbH . Paderborn was the new production location .

Models

After the first prototypes from ZF, the Champion Ch-1 from April 1949 was the company's first vehicle. In June 1949, two copies of the Champion Ch-2 with a more powerful engine followed. Series production ran from November 1949 to June 1950. From March 1950, the Champion 250 and Champion 250 S models followed . The first pre-production models of the Champion 400 convertible sedan were built in May 1950 .
