The Champion 400 (pre-series) was a vehicle type of the car brand Champion des Hermann-Holbein-Fahrzeugbau .

history

Holbein presented the vehicle in May 1950 at the International Motor Show in Berlin . A total of four vehicles were built. The vehicle went into series production in February 1951 as the Champion 400 , with some major changes to the chassis and engine . The manufacturer was now Champion-Automobilbau GmbH .

The two-door body of the convertible sedan offered space for two people. It was made by Drauz from Heilbronn .

mass and weight

With a wheelbase of 180 cm and a track width of 120 cm, the car was 318 cm long, 147 cm wide and 130 cm high. The curb weight was 495 kg, the permissible total weight 750 kg.

drive

The engine of the 400 was a champion air- or fan-cooled single cylinder - two-stroke engine of Triumph . It had a displacement of 396 cm³, developed 10 HP (7.5 kW) and was installed in the rear of the vehicle. The rear wheels were driven via a three-speed gearbox. The top speed was 85 km / h. The fuel consumption was given as 4.5 liters per 100 km. The later series version, however, received a two-cylinder engine from Ilo.

The planned new price was initially 2950 DM , later 3250 DM.
