The Protestant Church in Wallbach

The listed Protestant church in the August-Books-street in the center of the district Wallbach in the Taunus community Hünstetten dates the portal inscription to the year 1753. It was instead a gothic Valentinus - Chapel built. It is a small, plastered hall building with a frame structure and arched windows. It has an entrance with ear muffs and a hipped roof . The front tower is slate and has a canopy. In the interior there is a tapered barrel ceiling made of wood over a surrounding double cornice. There is a partly two-story gallery on three sides.

history

In 1425, the Archbishop of Trier Otto von Ziegenhain donated the chapel dedicated to St. Valentin von Terni . It was initially assigned to the parish in Strinz-Trinitatis and did not have its own pastor. Accordingly, the Wallbachers had to go to Strinz-Trinitatis for Sunday services or temporarily to the chicken church , as the Strinz chaplain rarely held a mass in the chapel. In 1609 it was incorporated into the Limbach parish .

The chapel in its current form was built in 1753, but contains parts of the original chapel. One of the two church bells was melted down during World War I , the other broke on January 17, 1918. Both were replaced by steel bells after the war.
