Wallbach , known by post as Wallbach (Taunus) before the regional reform in Hesse , is a church village in the Rheingau-Taunus district in southern Hesse .

geography

Wallbach was created on the left bank of the stream of the same name . Since 1972, the formerly politically independent municipality has belonged to the municipality of Hünstetten, which was newly formed as part of the regional reform , and is the fourth largest of the ten districts with a good 1,000 inhabitants. Because of its central location, Wallbach was designated the seat of the municipal administration of Hünstetten.

The federal road 417 , the so-called Hühnerstraße, runs west of Wallbach . The Hofgut Hühnerkirche is located directly on this trunk road .

history

Wallbach was first mentioned in a document from 1363, with which Claiß von Walebach and his wife Metze leased an estate in Fackenhofen from the prioress and the convent of Walsdorf . The village was under the rule of the Diocese of Trier and was administered by the court in neighboring Bleidenstadt .

In 1425, the Archbishop of Trier, Otto von Ziegenhain , donated a small chapel dedicated to St. Valentin of Terni . It was initially assigned to the parish in Strinz-Trinitatis , and in 1609 it was incorporated into the parish of Limbach . The Protestant church that still exists today was built on the site of the chapel .

There are 22 households for 1566 and 24 for 1610.

On August 28, 1883, the place received its own school house.

On December 31, 1971, as part of the regional reform in Hesse, the former municipalities of Beuerbach, Kesselbach, Ketternschwalbach, Limbach, Strinz-Trinitatis and Wallbach voluntarily merged to form the new municipality of Hünstetten. Local districts with local advisory councils and local councilors were formed for all formerly independent communities . In the centrally located Wallbach, a new building complex was built for the municipal administration.

On February 20, 1968, the municipality of Wallbach in the then Untertaunuskreis was awarded a coat of arms with the following blazon : in silver a red inclined cross covered with silver rings, in the upper corner a red rose with golden clusters and green sepals, in the lower a green trefoil.
