The Communications Regulatory Authority of Namibia ( CRAN , to German  about Communications Regulatory Authority of Namibia ) is the national regulatory authority for communications in Namibia . It is based in the capital Windhoek .

The regulatory authority was formally established as a legal entity based on the Communications Act, No. 8 of 2009. Operations started in May 2011.

It emerged from the Namibia Communications Commission . The Authority is the regulation of all sectors of communication , especially listening and broadcasting , telecommunications and information technology . CRAN is primarily at the service of the consumer.
