Historic town hall in Großheubach

The historic town hall in Großheubach is located in the center of the village on the market square between Mainstrasse and Hauptstrasse ( St 2309 ).

It was built in 1611/12 by the builder Otto Oswald Heppeler in the old Franconian style as a combined half-timbered and stone house. It served as the seat of a subordinate for the office of Prozelten . The ground floor was used as a prison.

As can be seen from an inscription above the main portal, the builders were Johann Schweikhard , Archbishop of Mainz and Elector, as well as Caspar Herr zu Eltz , Electoral Mainz Grand Chamberlain, councilor and bailiff zu Prozelten. The inscription is flanked by the coats of arms of both builders.
