Rolf Thiemann

Rolf Thiemann (born November 24, 1938 in Lünen ) is a former German soccer player. From 1959 to 1962, the defensive player played 37 league games for Borussia Dortmund in what was then the first-class football Oberliga West and scored one goal. In the game year 1960/61 he moved into the final of the German soccer championship with BVB .

career

For the round 1959/60, the former amateur footballer of VfB Lünen signed a contract with Borussia Dortmund in the Oberliga West. Under coach Max Merkel , he made his debut on the starting day, August 23, 1959, in the away game against Viktoria Köln in the Dortmund league team. In the 3-3 draw, he formed the final triangle of BVB together with goalkeeper Heinrich Kwiatkowski and Herbert Sandmann . In the course of the round he made 15 league appearances and the team from Borsigplatz took third place. When in his second Dortmund round, 1960/61, behind 1. FC Köln, the runner-up was reached, Thiemann only made nine appearances in the major league. In the final round of the German championship held in May / June, it then experienced its footballing climax. He was in all six group games against Hamburger SV, Eintracht Frankfurt and 1. FC Saarbrücken in the BVB-Elf. He was dealing with the wingers Klaus Neisner, Richard Kreß and Horst Remark. The successes against HSV (5: 2/7: 2) with their storm formation Neisner, Peter Wulf , Uwe Seeler , Klaus Stürmer and Gert Dörfel stood out. He moved with Dortmund into the final on June 24, 1961 in Hanover against the southern champions 1. FC Nuremberg. The "club" prevailed with 3-0 goals. Thiemann fought the Nuremberg right winger Gustav Flachenecker in the final .

In his third league year with Borussia Dortmund, 1961/62, a new coach came with Hermann Eppenhoff . At the start of the lap, August 6, 1961, the tried and tested final triangle with Kwiatkowski, Burgsmüller and Thiemann was in action; at Westfalia Herne there was a clear 4-0 defeat. On matchday 30, April 7, 1962, BVB again lost an away game, now with 3: 5 goals at FC Schalke 04, Thiemann defended with Lothar Geisler . In the summer of 1962, his contractual relationship with Borussia Dortmund ended. He is said to have played for FC Deventer in the Netherlands for the next few years.

From 1967 to 1969 he appeared again as a defender of Lüner SV in the then second -rate regional football league West . At the side of teammates Erhard Ahmann and Dieter Zorc , he completed 33 league games for Lünen.
