HiT FM was an Austrian private radio station from 2001 to 2012 , with broadcasting areas in Lower Austria and Burgenland , and a company of Moira Rundfunk, part of the German Media Union , which also operates Radio 88.6 in Vienna. In May 2012 the merger with 88.6 took place .

But it is still broadcast under "88.6 regional" on the former HiT FM frequencies. Independent programs are currently being sent "on air" from Vienna (on frequency 88.6 ) and from St. Pölten (former HiT FM broadcasting studio).

history

The HiT FM network initially consisted of the transmission areas of the former local radio station PL1 in the St. Pölten area and Radio W4 (Waldviertel). On November 21, 2001, the then youth broadcaster went on air with the claim “New hits every day” in CHR format . In 2002 the local radio stations Digi Hitradio in Mostviertel and Antenne 4 in Burgenland were integrated into the HiT FM network. The last expansion took place in 2007 when the youth channel Party FM in southern Lower Austria became HiT FM NÖ Süd.

There was also a music change from CHR format to AC .

The last claim of the station was "We love music". At the beginning of 2012, the previously heavily advertised subclaim "No double hit from 6 to 6" was dropped.

The HiTFM broadcasting studio was located in the Bühl shopping center in Krems until the end of 2010 , and in December the company moved to the BIZ in Sankt Pölten .

In May 2012 the eleven year history of HiT FM came to an end with the merger.
