Hitsch Jenny , Walser German for Christian Jenny (born April 24, 1927 in Chur ) is a Swiss composer , Kapellmeister and Schwyzerörgelplayer from Schanfigg in the canton of Grisons .

Live and act

He began his musical career with the diatonic harmonica in the "Edelweiss" harmonica club in Chur. From 1942 to 1950 Hitsch Jenny performed with Martin Rüttener as a Schwyzerörgeli duo. Then he played in the bands “Hans Stury”, “Montalin”, “Calanda” and in the Arosa band “Edy Capun”.

In 1956 Hitsch Jenny moved from Chur to Arosa , where he worked as a tax and land registry administrator, as a district court actuary and as a player for the EHC Arosa . In addition, Jenny was a member and president of the local guardianship authority for 38 years. He still lives in Arosa today.

The Schanfigger Schwyzerörgeliquartett / the Schanfigger Ländersquintett

At the end of the 1960s, Jenny founded the Schanfigger Schwyzerörgeliquartett . In 1968 Jenny appeared for the first time as the Schanfigger Ländlertrio with bassist Rolf Hess and clarinetist Paul Mattli. He later joined the trio with his cousin Josias Jenny and the clarinetist Silvio Caluori to form the Schanfigger Lander Quintet , which is one of the musically best and most stylish representatives of Bündner folk music. Your impromptu playing appears as a unique improvisation in the accompaniment. Without disturbing the leading melody, an accompanying melody is played - actually a second piece - which mixes with the melody to form a whole and represents a special type of sound.

Discography

Jenny wrote over 200 compositions and has recorded over 30 records and CDs, e.g. B. Hitsch Jenny with the Schanfigger Ländersquintett and the Schanfigger Schwyzerörgeliquartett: “Rassig urchig us em Schanfigg”, 2012
