Hjelle (Stryn)

Hjelle is a village in Stryn municipality in the Norwegian province of Vestland .

It is located at the eastern end of Lake Oppstrynsvatnet on the small bay of Hjellebukta . From the east, the mountain river Hjelledøla flows into the lake from the Hjelledalen valley . The mountain Nakken rises north of the village , south of the Hjellehyrna . Fylkesvei 720 runs through Hjelle . The Hjelletunnel , through which the Riksvei 15 runs, runs east of the village . About three kilometers west of the place, on the other side of the lake, is the place Oppstryn .

The Hjelle Hotel, founded in 1896, is located in the small village . From Hjelle, the famous Gamle Strynefjellsvegen mountain road leads east.
