Oppstryn is a village in the municipality of Stryn in the Norwegian province of Vestland .

It is located on the southwestern shore of Lake Oppstrynsvatnet at the foot of the Sandvikfjellet mountain . The mountain river Fosdøla flows into the lake from the Fosdalen valley from the south . Riksvei 15 runs through the village . On the other side of the lake, about three kilometers to the east, is the town of Hjelle .

In the village is the listed church of Oppstryn, built in 1883 . The Jostedalsbreen Nasjonalparksenter , the Jostedalsbreen National Park, is located on the western edge of the village .

Personalities

The author Amund Mork (1884–1963), the politician Edvard Solheim (1891–1989), the author Anny Berge Alsaker (* 1927) and the politician Kjell Mork (1948–2012) were born in Oppstryn .
