The Hlubeck Glacier is a 14 km long glacier in the southeast of Thurston Island off the coast of West Antarctic Ellsworthland . It flows south along the east side of Shelton Head into the Abbot Ice Shelf in Peacock Sound .
The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named him after the radio operator Vernon R. Hlubeck, a member of the crew of a Martin PBM Mariner during Operation Highjump (1946–1947) carried out by the United States Navy to create aerial photographs of Thurston Island and the neighboring area Mainland coastal areas.
