Bunker Limburg
The high- rise bunker ("Winkelturm") on the grounds of the WERKStadt shopping center in Limburg is an Winkel- type air raid shelter , named after the designer Leo Winkel . He was in the Second World War in 1941 to protect employees of the Reichsbahn repair shop Limburg before the air raids of the Allies built. To improve the vibration protection, the bunker was built on a bed of iron filings.
The bunker, which today still has large parts of the equipment from that time, such as the wooden benches on which those seeking protection sat, is now a listed building.
