High Court District
A high court district or high court district , cent , cent or Fraisch district was a medieval and early modern territorial unit in the Holy Roman Empire (HRR) as a judicial district of a high court .

High judicial districts were spatially closed territories, the boundaries of which were clearly defined. In the legal system of the HRR, high court districts played an important role because the high judiciary and the wild bans were the only territorial rights of rule. By the end of the late Middle Ages, the high court districts of forming cent and Fraischämter therefore the territorial sphere of the country's sovereignty . When the country's sovereignty from the end of the 15th century gradually from that on the bailiwick Lichen government was replaced based sovereignty, they were in this role by itself often consisting of scattered Einzelbesitzungen Bailiwick districts of the Bailiwick offices replaced.
