The Hochhaus-Lichtspiele in Hanover are the highest cinema in Germany. It is located 33.88 meters above street level on the 10th floor under the dome of the Anzeiger high-rise at Steintor in downtown Hanover .

The cinema has a circular hall (diameter 19.75 meters) with 275 seats. The checkout area is on the ground floor, the foyer on the eighth floor. Visitors can get up to here with two elevators. The cinema can also be reached via the staircase with 16 stairs and over 200 steps.

The operator of the cinema is the Vereinigte Filmtheater Betriebe GmbH , a company under the leadership of Hans-Joachim Flebbe , which also operates the cinema on Raschplatz in Hanover. Like the Kino am Raschplatz and the Apollo Kino, the Hochhaus-Lichtspiele belong to the Europa Cinemas cinema network . The program consists of cinematic films with a focus on European cinema. Matinee screenings with special films are offered on Sundays .

Under the dome indicator skyscraper was to World War II , a planetarium . The skyscraper was hit in the air raids on Hanover in March 1945. The planetarium burned down and was not restored.

Currently (2018) the dome is being extensively renovated and rebuilt. How the dome will then be used has not yet been conclusively clarified. During the renovation phase, the cinema events will take place on the ground floor of the Anzeiger high-rise in the so-called counter hall.
