The high forest is a mountain range of up to 508 meters high in the northern Vosges in the French department of Bas-Rhin near Wissembourg (Weißenburg). Topographically, it represents the northernmost part of the Vosges. To the north, the Lauter valley joins, which on the one hand represents the border between France and Germany ( Rhineland-Palatinate ) and on the other hand the border between (northern) Vosges and Palatinate Forest (Mundatswald) represents.
