The hockey club "Die 48er" is an Austrian ice hockey club that is currently active in the third highest Austrian league, the Oberliga .
history
The current form of the club came into being in 1994 when “The 48ers”, who had previously been a team for exclusively adult players, merged with the Vienna Young Tigers. Today the club maintains teams in all age groups and also trains girls to become ice hockey players. The fighting team was able to win the championship title of the Vienna League twice and was also twice runner-up in the Oberliga. After a year break due to financial problems, the team has been back in the league since the 2009/10 season.
The club also has several partnerships, including with the Lower Austrian Ice Hockey Association, the Okanagan Hockey School in St. Pölten (a branch of Hockey Canada ) and with VSK Technika Brno from the Czech Republic . In the youth field, teams compete in the Austrian and Czech youth leagues. The U13 and U15 teams achieved the greatest success with the Austrian championship title.
Venue
The home of the 48ers is, among other things, the Albert Schultz ice rink in the Kagran district of Vienna , which has a capacity of around 7,000 spectators and is, among other things, the home stadium of the Bundesliga club Vienna Capitals .
