Hocus Pocus is a rap music group founded in 1995 in Nantes , France . The group currently consists of 20Syl ( MC ), DJ Greem, Hervé Godard ( bassist ), David Le Deunff ( guitarist ), Thomas Faure and Guillaume Poncelet (both keyboards and drums).

Band history

Hocus Pocus was founded in 1995 by MCs 20Syl and Cambia, who released the mixtape Première Formule that same year . In 1997 they met DJ Greem and began working with him on their first album Seconde Formule , which was released in 1998. Soon afterwards, however, the band split up because the composition of two MCs and a DJ did not work. While 20Syl and DJ Greem continued to work together, Cambia left the band.

In 2001 20Syl founded the label On and On Records . A year later, Hocus Pocus made the leap to the public by releasing their single Malade after the band's victory at the "MCM Session 2002".

After two further single releases ( Conscient and On & On Part II ), the album 73 Touches was finally released in February 2005 , which was reissued in 2006 with seven other tracks.

In October 2007, Hocus Pocus released the album Place 54 , with which they managed to jump into the French Top 20.

In March 2010, the album 16 Pièces was released , on which the proportion of English-language passages has increased compared to the previous albums . Like its predecessor, Place 54, this album reached number 13 in the charts in France.
