The Hodegetria Cathedral (Cathedral of Our Lady of Smolensk) ( Russian Свято-Одигитриевский собор Улан-Удэ ) is in Ulan-Ude location Russian Orthodox Cathedral of the Buryat metropolis and eparchy Ulan-Ude. It is located in the historic city center near the confluence of the Uda and Selenga rivers .

The Hodegetria Cathedral is a monument of the Siberian Baroque from the 18th century in Sabaikalje with influences of the Northern Russian architecture. It is the first stone building in Ulan-Ude.

Construction of the cathedral began in 1741 on the site of a wooden church that had been here since 1700. The cathedral was consecrated on May 3, 1785. The cathedral is located in the area with high seismic activity, which resulted in multiple damage to the foundation and building. In 1863 and 1909 to 1913 the cathedral was restored. The bell tower, damaged by fire in 1878, was restored. Under Soviet rule, the cathedral was closed for services on September 6, 1929 and was used by the local history museum and later the museum of Buryat history. The last prior of the cathedral, Gavriil Makushev, Archbishop Pribaikalski, was assassinated in 1930. The bells and the cross were dismantled. Another restoration took place in 1959–1961. In 1999 the Hodegetria Cathedral was returned to the Russian Orthodox Church. The last restoration was in 2001.
