history

Since the von Hodenhagen family formed a line with the von Hodenbergs, the von Hodenhagen families were originally also highly free . The family comes from the place Hodenhagen . The von Hodenhagen family was first mentioned in 1232 with the knight Raven von Hodenhagen, who was a castle man at Hodenhagen Castle . In the historiography it is partly denied that the Raven von Hodenhagen belonged to the family of those von Hodenhagen. This may be because the writers thought Raven was part of the surname, but it was the first name of the knight Raven von Hodenhagen. Sources say that the von Hodenhagen were later renamed "von Hodenberg".
