The three-cushion world championship in 1984 was the 39th tournament in this discipline of carom billiards and took place from April 27 to 29, 1984 in Krefeld . It was the fourth three-cushion World Cup in Germany.

history

The Japanese Nobuaki Kobayashi secured the second world title. In the semifinals he defeated his rival Raymond Ceulemans with 60:42 in 42 shots. In the Glockenspitz Hall, which was fully occupied with 1,500 spectators, Kobayashi was also able to defeat the second Belgian Ludo Dielis with 60:49 in 42 shots. For the German champion Dieter Müller , the tournament started well with a draw against the defending champion Ceulemans. An unexpected defeat against the Peruvian Adolfo Suárez blocked his entry into the semi-finals. So he won the game for fifth place against the Argentine Luis Doyharzabal. For the second German participant Günter Siebert , the tournament was disappointing. In the end it was only tenth place.

mode

The game was played in the group phase, 3 groups of 4 players each, "everyone against everyone" with 60 points. The three group winners and the best runner-up came in the semifinals. The semi-final winners were in the final. All places up to twelfth place were played out. From the semi-finals and pitch play, the game was played without a kick-off.
