The three-cushion world championship in 1994 was the 47th tournament in this discipline of carom billiards and took place from January 6th to 9th in Aalborg ( Denmark ). It was the first three cushion World Cup in Denmark.

history

After differences between the Union Mondiale de Billard (UMB) and the Billiards World Cup Association (BWA) over the title of world champion, the world championship was held again from 1994 under the leadership of the UMB. For the time being, however, no actors from the BWA took part. Rini van Bracht made the best use of the opportunity and secured his second title at a three-cushion World Cup. Edgar Bettzieche from Bochum achieved a very good second place. The level of the World Cup was in the lower performance range. The Argentinian José Arguello and the Portuguese Rafael Noya did not come to the tournament. The games against them were rated with 2: 0 match points and 2: 0 set points against them.

mode

The tournament was played with 32 participants. In the preliminary round there were 8 groups with 4 participants each. The first in the group made it to the quarter-finals. Then it was played in the knockout system . In the preliminary round, the game was played on two sets of 15 points each, from the quarter-finals on three sets of wins and in the "3rd place game" on two. In the group final table, in the event of a tie, the direct comparison counted first.
