The three-cushion world championship 2000 took place in Saint-Étienne ( France ) from October 5th to 8th . It was the fifth three-cushion World Cup in France.

history

After convincing performances in the three-cushion World Cup , Dick Jaspers was also able to win a major international individual title for the first time. He eliminated two three-cushion world champions in the last sixteen and in the quarter-finals. In the game for third place, Marco Zanetti set a new world record with 6,000 over two sets of wins. The Dane Tonny Carlsen also played a strong tournament and surprisingly became vice world champion. The German participants played a little unlucky and only finished third in the group games and were eliminated early. The Austrian Andreas Efler made it to the round of 16 and failed with 2: 3 sets against the strong Turk Semih Saygıner .

mode

The tournament was played with 32 participants. In the group games and in the game for third place, two sets of 15 points were played. From the round of 16 onwards there were three sets of wins per game.
