The 1998 three-cushion world championship took place in Rezé ( France ) from October 15th to 18th . It was the fourth three-cushion World Cup in France.

history

With Daniel Sánchez , a Spaniard three-cushion world champion was the fourth time after 1931 (Enrique Miró), 1934 (Claudio Puigvert) and 1986 (Avelino Rico). From 1998 onwards, all BWA players were again eligible to play. Dick Jaspers set a new world record over two sets of wins with a GD of 3.333 . The curious thing about the game was that Jaspers won the match 30: 0 in 9 shots against the Egyptian Maged Elias. Also very curious is the fact that the Spaniard Juan Villora was bottom of the table with the best group GD. The final day in Rezé was completely sold out with 1,500 spectators. A total of over 4,000 visitors came to this world championship. The Panamanian Florence Bello did not appear at the tournament. This means that Luis Aveiga does not have a BED.

mode

The tournament was played with 32 participants. In the group games and in the game for third place, two sets of 15 points were played. From the round of 16 onwards there were three sets of wins per game.
