The three-cushion world championship in 1958 was the 15th tournament in this discipline of carom billiards and took place from May 26th to 31st, 1958 in Barcelona . So after five years there was again a three-cushion world championship.
history
Once again the world championship was decided with a playoff. The Argentine Enrique Navarra won this in 47 shots with 50:45 against René Vingerhoedt from Belgium. But Vingerhoedt set a new world record in the general average (GD) with 1.089 . August Tiedtke from Duisburg played the best individual average with 1.612 , with it he set Vingerhoedt's world record from 1952, and came in third place. The Austrian Johann Scherz , who is participating in a world championship for the first time , started with a world record. He improved the 35-year-old series record, which was set four times, by 1 point to 13 points.
