The three-cushion world championship in 1981 was the 36th tournament in this discipline of carom billiards and took place from February 2 to 8, 1981 in Cairo . It was the third three-cushion World Cup in Egypt after 1933 and 1973 .

history

Because the defending champion Raymond Ceulemans did not take part for personal reasons, there had to be a new world champion. The favorite by the results of the last few years was Nobuaki Kobayashi . Despite an excellent performance, he achieved all tournament records, in the end it was only enough for 2nd place. His only defeat against the new world champion Ludo Dielis made him runner-up for the eighth time. The Austrian Johann Scherz also delivered a very good performance . He took home his fifth World Cup medal.

mode

“Everyone against everyone” was played with 60 points.
