The 2008 three-cushion world championship took place from October 15th to 19th in St. Wendel ( Germany ). St. Wendel took over at short notice because Tokyo had canceled the World Cup.

history

Six years after his first three-band title, the South Tyrolean Marco Zanetti became world champion for the second time. In an exciting final, he defeated the Swede Torbjörn Blomdahl with 3-2 sets. He won the fifth set with 15:13 in 9 shots. The four-time world champion from Sweden has been waiting for the fifth title for eleven years. The Japanese Kouji Funaki played a great tournament. He lost in the round of 16 after 0: 2 set deficit with 2: 3 and played the best tournament average with 1.891 . For the first time, the French Jérémy Bury was able to secure a World Championship medal with a strong performance. It was the first three-cushion medal for France in 25 years.
