The 1985 three-cushion world championship was the 40th tournament in this discipline of carom billiards and took place from May 16-19, 1985 in Heeswijk-Dinther . It was the fifth three cushion World Cup in the Netherlands.

history

With the closest of all results, the Belgian Raymond Ceulemans secured his 19th World Championship title in three cushion. In the final against his toughest opponent Nobuaki Kobayashi from Japan he won 50:49 in 32 shots. In the semifinals Ceulemans won against the Swede Torbjörn Blomdahl with 50:14 in 22 shots. He had lost the last two games against the Swede. Every day of the tournament there was a crowd and there was an extraordinary atmosphere in the hall.

The game was played in the group stage, 2 groups of 6 players each, "everyone against everyone" with 50 points. The first two in the group made it to the semi-finals. The semi-final winners made it to the final. All places were played out.
